AMCen Caraga: A New Era for Innovation
The Department of Science and Technology – MIRDC has opened AMCen Caraga at Caraga State University in Butuan City, bringing 3D printing, digital design, and advanced manufacturing technologies closer to Mindanao. Makerlab Electronics proudly partners in empowering local innovators, startups, and manufacturers.

Butuan City — The future of manufacturing in Mindanao has officially arrived. On July 30, 2025, the Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) proudly launched its Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCen) satellite laboratory in the Caraga Region.

Held at the DOST Caraga Office on the Caraga State University (CSU) Main Campus in Ampayon, Butuan City, this milestone marks a significant leap toward making cutting-edge manufacturing technologies accessible to every corner of the Philippines.

Bringing Advanced Manufacturing Closer to Caraga

The establishment of AMCen Caraga is more than just the opening of a new facility — it’s a transformative opportunity for the region. This center is set to become a premier hub for innovation, industry, and research, empowering Caraga’s local communities to engage with the tools of Industry 4.0.

From 3D printing and additive manufacturing to digital design and rapid prototyping, AMCen will give students, startups, researchers, and manufacturers the resources they need to create, test, and scale their ideas faster than ever before.

Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators

AMCen Caraga is envisioned as a catalyst for skills development, entrepreneurship, and leadership in the technology sector. It opens doors for:

  • Aspiring engineers to gain hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing tools.
  • Researchers to prototype and refine innovations locally.
  • Startups to turn their concepts into market-ready products.
  • Manufacturers to adopt modern processes that enhance productivity and competitiveness.

By placing this technology within reach of the region’s people, AMCen ensures that innovation is no longer centralized in urban hubs — it’s here, ready to be used by the Caraga community.

Part of a Bigger Movement

This launch is part of DOST-AMCen’s national mission to democratize access to advanced manufacturing. Each satellite lab brings the vision of a future-ready Philippines closer to reality, ensuring that every region has the tools to thrive in an increasingly digital and interconnected economy.

The Caraga facility strengthens the region’s potential to contribute to nationwide technological progress while fostering local industries that can compete on both a national and global scale.

Makerlab Electronics: Partnering for Progress

As a proud partner in AMCen’s mission, Makerlab Electronics (The Philippines' Premier Digital fabrication equipment distributor) remains committed to bringing innovation closer to communities across the Philippines. Our goal is to equip makers, educators, businesses, and researchers with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving world.

The launch of AMCen Caraga is another step forward in that journey — one that we are excited to take alongside DOST-MIRDC, DOST Caraga, and the region’s innovators.

The Road Ahead

AMCen Caraga is now ready to serve as a space for exploration, creation, and collaboration. In the coming months, it will host:

  • Skills training for educators, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
  • Technical workshops on additive manufacturing and prototyping.
  • Collaborative projects between universities, industries, and local communities.

This is just the beginning. From Caraga to the rest of Mindanao, innovation is set to rise. And with AMCen Caraga now in place, the future is not just something we’re waiting for — it’s something we’re building, together.

Innovation has found its home in Caraga.
Now, it’s time to make history.
