Introduction
This November, Makerlab Electronics proudly took part in a landmark event—the IECEP National Convention 2025, hosted at The Space at One Ayala, Makati City. Marking 75 years of excellence in electronics engineering, this convention was more than just a gathering—it was a celebration, a showcase, and a launchpad for the next wave of innovation.
What Is IECEP (and Why This Convention Matters)
To understand the significance of this event, it helps to know a little about IECEP:
• Full Name: Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines.
• Founded in: 1950
• Role: It’s the Accredited Professional Organization (APO) recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for professional electronics engineers (PECE), electronics engineers (ECE), and electronics technicians (ECT).
• Mission & Vision: IECEP promotes continuing professional development, professionalism, and ethical practice among electronics professionals.
This year’s AGM75 (Annual General Membership Meeting & Convention) served as a “Diamond Year” celebration, highlighting a legacy of innovation and commitment. The theme was “Beyond 75 Years of Excellence: Electronics Engineering Pioneering Innovative Pathways to a Sustainable Future.”
Makerlab at the Convention: Why We Were There
At Makerlab Electronics, we’re all about real-world, hands-on innovation. So when IECEP invited industry partners, we saw a perfect opportunity: a platform to connect with engineers, students, and professionals who share our passion for pushing boundaries.
Here’s why showcasing our products at IECEP made perfect sense:
1. Bridging Theory and Practice
IECEP is a hub for practicing engineers, educators, and students. At Makerlab, we believe that innovation doesn’t just live in labs—it must be usable by real engineers right now. Our booth highlighted tools that professionals can immediately apply to projects, prototyping, and research.
2. Empowering Engineers
By bringing microcontrollers, ESP32 boards, M5Stack, Seeed Studio modules, sensors, and advanced 3D printing (via our Creality K2 Pro) to the convention floor, Makerlab offered attendees the chance to explore and learn. These components are not just “cool tech”—they’re building blocks for real solutions.
3. Aligning with IECEP’s Vision
IECEP’s mission emphasizes professional growth and technical excellence. By showing our prototyping tools, we reinforced that same vision—helping engineers turn ideas into tangible, working systems.
4. Celebrating the “75 Years of Excellence” Milestone
What better way to celebrate IECEP’s legacy than by bringing forward-looking, cutting-edge tools? Our presence underscored the excitement of what lies ahead: innovation, collaboration, and meaningful impact.
What We Showcased at Our Booth
Here’s a breakdown of the key products and how they resonated with the audience:
• Microcontrollers & Embedded Boards
We displayed popular development boards like ESP32 and modules from M5Stack and Seeed Studio. These are powerful tools for rapid prototyping, IoT applications, and embedded systems. Many engineers at IECEP are already working in these domains, making these boards highly relevant.
• Sensors & Modules
From environmental sensing to motion detection, the sensors at our booth demonstrated how straightforward it can be to integrate real-world data into smart systems. Engineers could see and feel how sensor modules could be paired with microcontrollers for custom solutions.
• 3D Printing with Creality K2 Pro
Our Creality K2 Pro 3D printer was a centerpiece. Attendees were able to see it in action—printing prototypes, brackets, enclosures, and parts. For many, it was a tangible demonstration of how physical prototyping can be accelerated without compromising precision.
• Prototyping Tools
Beyond just boards and printers, we also highlighted the broader Makerlab prototyping ecosystem: power supplies, breadboards, test equipment, and more. These are the kinds of tools that help engineers go from concept to working prototype quickly.

Highlights & Impact
• Engaged Conversations: Throughout the three-day event, our team had meaningful conversations with a wide range of participants—veteran ECE professionals, PECE-licensed engineers, and aspiring students. People asked insightful technical questions, which showed real interest in building rather than just browsing.
• Hands-On Demos: The live 3D printing demo with the K2 Pro drew a lot of attention. Many attendees were fascinated not just by the speed, but also the precision and potential applications for prototyping electronics housing or custom parts.
• Inspiring the Next Generation: For student attendees, seeing microcontrollers and sensors up close made a big difference. It’s one thing to learn theory in class; it's another to touch, program, and build something real. We believe these interactions could spark future projects and careers.
• Strengthening Our Network: Participating in IECEP AGM75 wasn’t just about showcasing products. It was also about aligning Makerlab with a historic celebration and building relationships with the IECEP community—members who value innovation, professionalism, and growth.

What This Means for Makerlab Going Forward
This convention was more than a one-off event for us—it was a statement. It says, “Makerlab is serious about driving engineering innovation in the Philippines.” Here’s how we see the path ahead:
• Continued Support for Engineers: We’re committed to providing tools that are not just bleeding-edge, but also practical and accessible. Our success at IECEP motivates us to expand our offerings.
• Partnership Potential: Relationships forged at the convention could lead to partnerships with academic institutions, IECEP chapters, and industry players. We’re ready to collaborate on workshops, training, and projects.
• Community Engagement: By engaging engineers who are deeply rooted in the Filipino electronics ecosystem, we can better understand their needs—and build or source tools that truly help them.
Closing Thoughts
Attending the IECEP National Convention was a milestone for Makerlab—one that aligns with our core mission: making innovation accessible, practical, and meaningful. As IECEP celebrates 75 years of excellence, we’re honored to stand with them, offering the tools and technology that empower engineers to build the future.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared their ideas, and explored what’s possible. This is just the beginning.
