RSTW 2025 – A Technological Leap Forward with DOST Caraga & Makerlab Electronics

Opening Ceremony of RSTW 2025 at Robinsons Butuan
The 2025 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) officially opened its doors to innovation and collaboration on July 30 at Robinsons Butuan. Led by DOST Caraga and supported by key DOST agencies like MIRDC, the event ushered in a three-day celebration anchored on the theme “Building Smart and Sustainable Communities.” The kickoff brimmed with purpose and energy — showcasing how Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) are shaping a more resilient and future-ready Caraga region.
A Grand Opening Steeped in Purpose
A soulful performance by the Budjong Chorale Ensemble set the tone for an inspiring morning. Key national leaders including DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., Undersecretary Engr. Sancho Mabborang, and Regional Director Engr. Noel M. Ajoc delivered powerful messages, outlining the country’s STI roadmap and calling for strengthened public-private collaboration.
This year’s focus? Smart Cities, Circular Economy, and Artificial Intelligence — all woven into Caraga’s regional development strategy.

The spotlight shone on SETUP 4.0 and Innovation Synergy, with ceremonial fund releases and MOUs that embraced artificial intelligence, MSME digitalization, and food innovation roadmaps. The moment felt more like a tech revolution than a routine ribbon-cutting.
Showcasing Innovation — Booths, Demos & Dialogue
When the ribbon dropped, the exhibit floor buzzed with energy. Makerlab Electronics, invited as a Tech Partner, greeted attendees with interactive tech demonstrations, All 3D printers designed for both hobbyists and STEM institutions.
The ribbon cutting marked the start of the exhibit walk-through — with one booth buzzing with particular energy: Makerlab Electronics, invited as a featured exhibitor under DOST-MIRDC.
Here, guests encountered 3D printers in action, showcasing locally accessible technologies for education, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The booth highlighted how Creality 3D printers, available at Makerlab, empower schools, MSMEs, and innovators.

Hands-on demos at the Makerlab booth drew educators, students, and entrepreneurs alike
Mike Jassen Sy, President of Jassen Harris Industries Corp., stood proudly as Makerlab’s ambassador. His presence echoed a strong message: accessible technology should empower every Filipino — from learners to local governments.
