Igniting Innovation: STTP Region 12 Demo Day 2025 in General Santos City

On September 19, 2025, the city of General Santos became the hub of innovation and technopreneurship as the Scholars Technopreneurship Training Program (STTP) Region 12 held its highly anticipated Demo Day. The event marked a milestone for the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) as 100 DOST scholars completed their six-month journey of mentorship, hands-on workshops, and entrepreneurship training.

What is STTP?

The Scholars Technopreneurship Training Program (STTP) is a flagship initiative of DOST-SEI, designed to transform the country’s brightest scholars into future technopreneurs. Beyond technical knowledge, the program equips participants with business acumen, leadership skills, and the mindset to create meaningful impact in their communities.

Through intensive workshops, mentorship, and real-world simulations, STTP empowers scholars to convert innovative ideas into viable startup ventures—turning creativity into sustainable solutions.

Demo Day Highlights

The culmination of the program was Demo Day, where scholar-teams pitched their startup ideas to a panel of evaluators composed of both local and global judges. Each presentation reflected the scholars’ dedication, creativity, and drive to solve pressing community problems through technology and entrepreneurship.

Ideas ranged from tech-enabled platforms to social impact solutions, showcasing how the youth are ready to shape the country’s innovation landscape.

Makerlab Electronics as Judge

Makerlab Electronics, represented by Voltaire Gaviola (Brand Supervisor), was honored to serve as one of the judges during the event. It was an opportunity to witness firsthand the passion and ingenuity of young innovators.

Celebrating Winners and Scholars

The day ended with recognition for all participants, highlighting not just the winners but the collective achievement of every scholar who completed the program. These young innovators are now better equipped to take on the challenges of building startups, launching projects, and creating impact-driven solutions for society.

Looking Ahead

As the STTP Demo Day 2025 closes, what remains is more than just a batch of graduates—it is a community of changemakers. With Region 12 as host, the program sparked ideas and ambitions that will ripple into startups, technologies, and stories shaping the future of the Philippines.

Makerlab Electronics is proud to have been part of this inspiring journey, supporting initiatives that champion innovation, education, and technopreneurship.
