A Creative Afternoon at D6 Games Café
On August 30, 2025, Makerlab Electronics successfully held 3DX Workshop 2.0 at D6 Games Café, Sta. Cruz, Manila—a one-stop hub for toys, games, food, and now, learning. The event brought together students, hobbyists, and curious makers for a fun afternoon of hands-on learning and collaboration, where imagination was transformed into real 3D-printed objects.
Meet the Team Behind the Workshop
Guiding the workshop were Ray Judiel Cawas (Product Engineer) and Blue Tolentino (Technical Supervisor), ushered by Voltaire Gaviola (Brand Supervisor) of Makerlab Electronics. With their expertise, participants gained both the knowledge and practical experience to start their own 3D printing journey using the Bambu Lab A1 Combo.
Workshop Highlights
The afternoon kicked off with an introduction to 3D printing, covering the basics of additive manufacturing, types of printers, and commonly used materials like PLA.
Participants then moved into the design stage, where they used Tinkercad, a beginner-friendly software, to create simple models such as customized keychains. Once their designs were ready, they learned how to prepare them for printing using Bambu Studio—adjusting key settings like layer height, infill, and supports before sending the files to the printer.
The most exciting part was the hands-on printing session. They watched their digital designs materialize layer by layer on the Bambu Lab A1 Combo.
Of course, not every print comes out perfect the first time. That’s why the workshop also included a troubleshooting and post-processing segment, where participants learned to handle common issues like adhesion problems and clogged nozzles.
Finally, the session ended on a practical note with a discussion on costing basics for makers and an additional lesson about HueForge. Participants learned how to compute material, electricity, and labor costs, helping them understand how to price 3D-printed products realistically.
Coffee, Collaboration, and Creativity
Beyond the technical lessons, the workshop atmosphere was lively and collaborative. Over coffee and conversations, participants connected with fellow makers, exchanged ideas, and shared their excitement about applying their new skills to future projects.
What’s Next? Stay Tuned for More 3DX Workshops
Thanks to the overwhelming demand, 3DX Workshops continue to expand beyond MAA, reaching more communities eager to explore 3D printing and 3D scanning.
